In the world of warfare, ruse de guerre or “False Flag” operations describe those covert military and paramilitary missions that are carried out in such a way so as to appear as if they are being executed by entities or nations other than those who are truly responsible. With this type of deception in mind, Undefeated teamed up with ASICS to introduce a “FALSE FLAG” edition of 1993’s Gel Lyte V for a Winter 2014 release. Draped in black leather with a speckled grey midsole, the creative release is punctuated by a military orange heel cap while the insoles have been decorated with a motif inspired by that of vintage military zonal maps and coordinates — in this case, modified with subtle UNDFTD branding. Finally, woven reflective laces — complete with branded ends — provide the finishing touches.
